I was convinced this movie was gonna be about lesbians then it wasn’t and I was pissed.
Welcome to the club.
the Pitch Perfect fandom: a summary
This movie is about lesbians, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Don’t mean to sound rude cuz you all are cool but I would like to say that Chloe might have a crush on Beca because be honest who doesn’t? But anybody can see that Beca and Jesse are so in love. If not why would he fight for her and why would she be hurt by him or serenade him with “Don’t You” then kiss him passionately?
We all view the movie differently. From our view we’re just seeing what could’ve been. This film is littered with subtext, and despite the ending, there was a connection between Beca and Chloe that Beca and Jesse did not have. I accept the ending because that’s how Kay Cannon wrote it and it’s her story. But it’s just my feeling that story could have gone in a more interesting and unconventional direction.
I thought the writer or someone high-up on the film did an interview and said that they were going to go all “Surprise! Singing Lesbians!” but they were told it might not be as popular with that plot.
I’m sorry to say it’s not true. That was sort of made up by the fandom way back when the Bechloe fandom was very young. But on the commentary for Pitch Perfect, Jason Moore (the director), outright admits that they knew what they were doing with Beca and Chloe. He even admits Beca and Chloe are bisexual. Jason also mentions that all the sexual undertones in the shower scene were Brittany Snow’s idea.
